Dr. A. R. Chase:

Dr. Chase received a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California at Riverside in 1976 and a PhD. in Plant Pathology from the same institution in 1979. She was Professor of Plant Pathology at the University of Florida Central Florida Research and Education Center in Apopka from 1979 through 1993. Currently she is President of Chase Research Gardens, Inc., a family operated, contract research and consulting firm in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada Mts. east of Sacramento, CA. Applied research in the areas of disease control and growth management, diagnosis of ornamentals problems and development of education al materials are ongoing projects.

Dr. Chase has written over 650 scientific and popular articles on diseases of ornamentals and their controls. The following is a list of her books:

  • Diseases and Disorders on Ornamentals Palms
  • Diseases of Annuals and Perennials
  • Diagnosing and controlling diseases of Foliage Plants
  • Ball Field Guide to Diseases of Greenhouse Crops

Ann also acts as Scientific Advisor to the California Cut Flower Commission with special emphasis on methyl bromide replacement.

Jeffrey H. Dobbs:

Jeffrey H. Dobbs, Director of Technical Services at OHP, graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Delaware in 1970. He joined the Marine Corps in June of 1970. From 1972-1982, he ran American Arborist Supplies in Concordville, PA, supplying tools, equipment, sprayers and chemicals to the arboricultural and landscape industry. In 1982 Jeffrey joined ICI Americas and was transferred to Georgia for a position in sales for animal health and public health products. In 1985, he became technical manager for the specialty group. Later, ICI became Zeneca and with the acquiring of Stauffer Chemical and their products, a T&O group was formed. In 1994 he started a consulting company “Control Products Consulting” and assisted with product positioning for Gowan in the T&O markets and assisted in training future Terminex employees.

Jeffrey joined OHP in 1996 as technical manager, giving him responsibility for label expansion, efficacy trials, product research and support, while also assisting with registration issues.
